On the 3rd of December we hosted a Cocktail Party at the Kings Arms to celebrate Christmas and to celebrate a year of The Turning Tides Projects enabling service: EPIC.
In the morning we put up Christmas decorations, checked over the cocktail menus, put up posters and got the room ready. We put Christmas songs on to help us get ready, and then kept the Christmas songs playing into the evening to get us really into the festive mood. Drinks were flowing with hand crafted cocktails mixed by expert bartenders, raffle prizes were won and live music played. It really is a most wonderful time of the year. With crowds of people, lots of which had never had the opportunity to meet each other, it was really great to see everyone involved and talking to each other and enjoying the music. What a young and exciting vibe we all create! Some local businesses helped by donating prizes for the raffle, which we really appreciate and there were some great prizes to be won. Including drink sales we managed to take just under £150 - which is excellent; covering our cost and raising some money to go towards the cost of a PA System which will really help our Arnos Vale project and future Pub Jams in Okehampton and Crediton. Karen Percival, Okehampton United Charities (who are one of our supporters), came to the cocktail party. So please keep your eyes pealed for an article in the Okehampton Times. At the moment we haven't collected all of our photos and videos so here are just a few to keep you going... Written by Ross Baines, Jake Hooper and Dom Palfreman |
