It rained, it poured, the Old Man snored and we all ate cream teas. Saturday 20th August was our Summer Rhapsody Garden Party. We cosmic ordered a sunny day, but instead got a day of torrential rain... This did not stop the party though!
We enjoyed a beautiful recital by Jane Williams (our very own Director!) and Peter Adcock. They performed pieces by Gershwin, Debussy and Heath on the saxophone and piano. The music was awesome, and even a change in playing position didn’t put them off being the ultimate professionals. People enjoyed Prosecco and Pimms, cream teas were eaten, tea was drunk, and everyone just about managed to keep dry! The hat competition was won by me, Gavin Rough, with a huge thank you to Rivka Jacobs who came to judge. The auction was supposed to be a silent one, but that idea was rained on. We took it inside, and once everyone warmed up the bids started to come in, with some of the artwork being very popular. We must say a big thank you to Joy Quickenden and David Bragg for kindly letting us use their beautiful house as a venue. Also for their help in setting up and Joy for making and serving the cream teas. We also must thank all the people and companies that donated prizes for the auction, and those that all took the time to read and respond to our requests. We are very grateful for all the help. We raised a grand total of £961.50 from the day, and without everyone’s support this would not have been possible. Once again a massive thank you to all who came and supported the day.
