What's Happened So Far
We met with Andrew, Tesco Community Champion, to talk about what stops us from shopping on our own in Tesco and what might change that
|
We used the information and ideas we collected to create a SmallTalk Questionnaire for every one who is a part of TTTP to complete
|
What We're Doing Now
We are now asking people to complete the questionnaire so that we can get as many opinions and ideas as we can.
Download the questionnaire here and send it back to us at theturningtidesproject@hotmail.com
There is also a video on YouTube to make the questionnaire more accessible.
If you’d like to fill in the questionnaire with us get in touch or come to Making Waves: Crediton in The Buccaneers.

What We Will Do Next
We will look at all the ideas and decide, together, which ones we will be put to the test.
These ideas will then be put in place in Tesco Crediton so that the whole community can try them out and see what they think of them.

#Inclusive Work Opportunities
What happened in 2017...
We have been working with Tesco, Well Parks, Crediton to develop, pilot and evaluate an approach to delivering #Inclusive Work Opportunities.

Our #Inclusive Work Opportunities Project, by working closely with our local Community Champion, gives us the opportunity to:
- Develop accessible training that delivers the training necessary to create an accessible and #Inclusive work environment
- Document the journeys of the people with and without ‘learning disability’ or ‘autism’ labels who participate in the Project
- Identify the barriers when navigating a recruitment procedure, accessing Training, Work Experience, Qualifications and Employment and describe the steps we take to remove them
- Make recommendations about the future provision of training and recruitment for our local Tesco and the retail sector in general.

What has happened so far...
23rd and 28th March 2017 we took part in the Tesco Farm to Fork Trail and a Healthy Eating session lead by John, the Farm to Fork Coordinator.
This was used to develop our basic understand of Tescos and it's role as a Supermarket. It also gave us all the opportunity to explore the Supermarket and make sure we were comfortable in our surroundings as well as interested. Each of these sessions were attended by 9 people.

Work Placement and Training Positions...
|
Work experience placements were offered in conjunction with Tesco, with the application close date set for 28th April 2017. This was advertised locally in the Crediton Courier in written form, across Social Media both as an advert and as a Small Talk video. Applications could be made just by contacting us. CV writing, Interview Techniques and In-Work Training was all offered. Having received a small number of applications, Tesco conducted 2 interviews. We decided to take it back a step and focus on getting people work ready and developing peoples knowledge of Tesco before offering opportunities to work - each gaining Tesco Bronze Award. ![]()
